Sometimes the stars align in beautiful fashion. Lamborghini maintains a fleet of vehicles that are made available for car shows, press appearances, and dealer support. In coordination with the launch of the Superleggera we received two press cars at the same time. For one week last June I spent most of my working hours demonstrating and test driving a 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 Superveloce and a 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. Here are some pictures of the cars as well as a few very cool videos from our time with the car.
I have had plenty of chances to drive the Superleggera and it is unquestionably a phenomenal car. I do not get many chances to write about the Superveloce though. It is a very difficult car to put into perspective. It is important to note that I am a huge Murcielago fan. I love the drama, the outrageous lines, the excitement, and the fact that there is nothing else like it. Most of the time, though, you have to concede that the Gallardo is a better car to drive. The SV is a Murcielago that handles like a Gallardo.
I sincerely believe that the Aventador is the best car that has ever been built. It hasn’t been around yet to establish a reputation as being cool. For me, the coolest car ever built is still a bit of a toss up between an SV and a Diablo GT. We will have to talk more about that later.
