Last week I discussed the legality of owning a Pagani or a Koenigsegg in the US. As you may have noticed, their existence here is a bit precarious. I do get a fair number of requests for those types of cars – customers looking to buy something that is even more rare and special than a production Lamborghini or Ferrari.
That list might include a Zonda or CCXR Edition, a Bugatti Veyron, a Saleen S7, one of the Vector cars, a Spyker, or a rare classic car.
The halo cars released by brands are popular for that type of quest. Something like the Aston One-77, Lamborghini Reventon, Mercedes-McLaren SLR, Mercedes CLK-GTR, Porsche Carrera GT, etc. can be great cars to own with a great network of dealers for maintenance.
It might even be a cool car from the 1980’s or 90’s like a McLaren F1, Jaguar XJ220, or Porsche 959. These cars were the idols of many of us growing up and as people of that generation become more wealthy, they will continue to appreciate in value.
The Ferrari “supercars” are great to collect – the 288, F40, F50, and Enzo. Their newest supercar is slated to come soon with over 900 hp!
The process of buying one of these cars usually involves a specialized inspection, verification of the car’s history, performing a comprehensive service since many will have been sitting for a while, determining the best way to title the vehicle, and then carefully arranging transport.
