I just had an amazing car weekend. Thursday I went out to Birmingham to join a very special friend and customer as he took delivery of his brand new car. It was a great chance to see what my new Manual Transmission LP640 is made of.
Lots of cops on I20 heading West.
Then the Murci got introduced to some rain.
Then we needed a pit stop.
Then I made a quick stop to check on the S55 project car at Mercedes Benz of Birmingham – the place where miracles happen.
The Murci was a strong departure from their usual fare.
Then I made it to the hotel where we were staying – The Westin Birmingham.
Some friends joined me.
And we went to Barber Motorsports Park for my friend to get something pretty cool. The fanfare was appreciated and appropriate.
Quite a car.
Some other fun stuff laying around.
They also had a track beater for him to play around with. It passed 10k miles as he was driving it.
The hospitality at their Porsche Driving Experience was incredible.
Less cops and less traffic on the way home.
Not less bugs.
Then on Saturday we had our Motorcars of Georgia Track Day. The construction at Atlanta Motorsports Park is coming along nicely.
It was a beautiful day. I took the Murci around a few times just to feel it. It prefers big highways to tight twisty tracks but it held its own.
Sunday evening, I took the Murcielago down to Midtown to see some friends for dinner. Good excuse to stop by one of my favorite photo spots.
Always nice to see some fellow Cannonball enthusiasts.
