Yesterday Lamborghini unveiled the most extreme Gallardo iteration ever at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is called the 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. This is essentially a street version of Lamborghini’s cars produced for their one make Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series. The car is clearly based on the Superleggera that we already love but it is much more extreme with a new downforce package, more weight savings, more track focused options, and some new styling features.
There will be a limited run of 150 numbered units. They will come in either Rosso Mars (as shown below), Grigio Telesto, or Bianco Monocerus. The car looks menacing and I am sure that we will have no trouble selling them quickly.
The new weight savings measures bring the total weight down to 1340 kg which is less than 3,000 pounds. Lamborghini states the 0-100 kph number at 3.4 seconds but you can expect to see a magazine 0-60 test of the car dip into the 2’s. Road and Track already got the Superleggera down to 3.0 seconds 0-200 kph happens in 10.4 seconds. Horsepower remains at 570 resulting in just 2.3 kg per hp.
The interior remains minimalist with the option of deleting the radio, carbon fiber racing seats as standard, carbon fiber door panels and center console, optional fire extinguisher, roll cage, and 4 point harnesses.
The car looks spectacular. I can’t wait to see it in the flesh.
