After my first S55 was totaled there was not really any questions about what I wanted next – another S55. I found a Flint Gray/Black one with 59k miles. It had parktronic, distronic, and several other options that my first one did not have. The car was in great shape and happened to be at a local dealer. I bought the car in mid 2009 and still drive it daily. It has about 95k miles on it now.

I have always loved the big AMG Mercedes cars. In 2003 when they released the supercharged 5.5 liter V8′s with 493 horsepower, I immediately wanted one. I found a very nicely kept 2003 S55 in Atlanta for sale by a private individual with about 90k miles in 2008 and bought it. I drove it about 15k miles and someone made an illegal left turn and hit me head on. We were both going 15-20 miles per hour and it absolutely destroyed his Camry but everyone was ok. The Mercedes was totaled and I made about $11,500 more than I paid for the car when the insurance paid me for it. It was pretty light on options but it was a great car while I had it.
